1. Introduction, apologies and substitutions
There were no apologies.
The Chair welcomed Dr Catherine Bochel, who was observing from the public gallery.
2. P-04-329 Control of noise nuisance from wind - discussion of site visits and evidence given on 28 February
The Committee agreed to produce a short report on the subject of noise from wind turbines and request a Plenary debate.
3. New petitions
3.1 P-04-384 Link to M48 off B4245 Caldicot/Rogiet
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to await the Minister’s response.
3.2 P-04-385 Petition regarding balloon and lantern releases
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to await the Minister’s response.
3.3 P-04-387 Signage and Drainage on A467
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to await the Minister’s response.
3.4 P-04-388 Protect collective worship as a legal requirement
The Committee considered the petition for the first time and agreed to await the Minister’s response.
4. Updates to previous petitions
4.1 P-04-365 Protect buildings of note on the Mid Wales Hospital site
The Chair declared an interest in the subject as the local councillor for Talgarth.
The Committee agreed to:
Write again to Cadw to suggest that it put temporary measures in place to protect such buildings until the Heritage Bill is passed;
Write to the Minister for Housing, Regeneration and Heritage to request that temporary protection measures are put in place until the Heritage Bill is passed;
Write to Brecon Beacons National Park Authority emphasising that the site is in a conservation area and to ask that any accepted planning application protects buildings of note in the conservation area.
4.2 P-04-369 Against the proposed Cardiff to Newport Coastal Path
The Committee considered correspondence relating to the petition.
Joyce Watson declared an interest as a member of the RSPB.
The Committee agreed to follow up on its correspondence with the RSPB.
5. P-03-238 Pollution of the Burry Inlet - oral evidence session
The witnesses answered questions from the Committee.
Welsh Water agreed to forward details of its surface water and sustainable urban drainage work in the area.
The witnesses agreed to respond in writing to any questions that could not be asked at the meeting due to time constraints.
6. P-04-341 Waste and Incineration - oral evidence session
The witnesses answered questions from the Committee.
The witnesses agreed to forward relevant data and analysis on the impact of the recession on waste arisings.
7. P-03-295 Kyle Beere - Paediatric Neuro Rehabilitation - Round Table Discussion
The witnesses answered questions from the Committee.
Bethan Jenkins declared an interest in having helped to set up the Port Talbot Headway service.
